A new 40km time trial course near Heckston (South Gower) drew out 24 riders. The fire-fighters came out on top today in both the men's and women's categories - Ron Amos did a personal database 40km best of 53:48 (44.61km/h) whereas Ellen Pazdzior did 1:04:51 (a touch more than 37km/h). The road surface for this course is quite smooth apart from a few places near the turn around, and it is considerably flatter than the Calabogie course. These factors contributed to the eleven 40km personal bests and the 10 improvements in 2011 40km PBs. Since we had one male competitor older than 80 years of age and two men and one woman over 70 years of age, it's interesting to see how the performances rank relative to the British VTTA standards. Congratulations to Rick Sudac, 62 years old, for topping this list by almost 4 km/h!
These results were posted on the OBC site circa 15:00 on 2011-Jul-24 and are available here for your added pleasure and analysis.
(Lest complaints about me just lazily sucking in the results surface, I wish to make it perfectly clear that I would gladly do the data entry, getting the results up within a few of hours of the event, as history shows that I did for the WTT series for the decade beginning in 1998, and for the OTT series from 1999-2002 and again in 2006. The OBC Board however, not only won't let me volunteer here, but strangely enough they actually expelled me from the OBC for donating this time trial web site to you !)
