Apart for the rather high air pressure today, the conditions were good enough to allow three of today's riders to set new all-time 40km bests for their categories! The biggest category improvement was the 17% cube-speed improvement by Derek Gee (54:55 43.703 km/h) for the Male Cadet (15-16 years old) category. Mary Ajersch (1:13:01, 32.869 km/h) posted a 2.06% Female Veteran E (70-79 years old) improvement, despite being stung on the face by a wasp early in the time trial! Finally, Joel Katz (55:31, 43.23 km/h) upped the previous Male Veteran C (50-59 years old) 40km cube speed measure by 0.99%. Note that Derek and Mary were improving upon their own previous marks, whereas Joel took 9 seconds off of Paul Datars' record set last August on the same course. Way to go! Congratulations also to the 8 riders who posted new personal database bests for 40km. A graph of the progress of these people in their 40km TT attempts on the ABC/OBC courses is shown here and the progress on this Heckston course is shown here.
