The skies were sputtering rain as we did our time trials, but the air pressure was nice and low, the temperature warm and the wind on the course was considerably less than measured at the McDonald Cartier Airport. This resulted in some excellent times. Four women posted improvements in their previous 15km database best. Three of these riders are new to time trials this year - 14 year old Alexandra Bouchard (31:37, 28.466km/h) with a huge 17.19% cube speed improvement, Lisa Zaccardelli (26:04, 34.527km/h) also having a double-digit improvement of 10.10%, and Alexandra's mom Lucie Tremblay (23:51, 37.736) with a 6.5% improvement. The fourth lady with a new database best was Nancy Luitwieler (26:43, 33.687km/h) who took 34 seconds off of her previous record from a decade ago! Special congratulations to all of these riders, as well as to cadet rider Keltie Campbell (24:59, 36.024km/h) who was only 10 seconds off of her PB from last Thursday, despite waiting for a string of slow moving cars at the turn-around tonight. She and Celia McInnis could have had a picnic while waiting! Anyway, in all 13 riders posted improvements in their previous 2013 WTT 15km bests. Ellen Pazdzior (22:56, 39.244km/h) posted a 15.09% cube speed improvement to place first tonight tied for the fourth fastest 15km so far in the 2013 WTT series. One other of these improvers has a very special distinction of being very consistent over the past 24 seasons - Jean Cooper, now in her 70th year, has been doing WTT events every year since 1990, and this graph is quite remarkable! Not too many people age so well!
