In addition to coach Jim Glover and 16 women time trialists, there seemed to be some gremlins at the 10km start/finish area tonight. The timer application on Jim's phone stopped and had to be restarted when we were lining up, and afterwards when we tried to upload the results to this web site at the finish line we received an indication that only limited internet access was available. Everything was fine back in the Museum parking lot, though several felt that their real times were 20 some seconds slower than recorded. We think that the finishing order is correct, though, since Celia McInnis, who went first so as to be back to help Jim at the finish, also thought that her time should have been 20 seconds more. I guess they were kind gremlins! All that to say that the huge season/series improvements which were reported on this not entirely hospitable night (strong east winds) should be used as encouragement rather than discouragement for future personal improvements. Congratulations to Isabelle Teolis (17:54) for finishing fastest, Susan MacIsaac in second place and Caitlin Crooks (18:22). Acknowledgements also to Alicia Weiss (21:56), Lyse Patenaude (20:56) and Danielle Avery (21:32) for posting cube-speed improvements of about 30% relative to their previous season series bests.
