It was a nice, warm low air-pressure night. The only disturbance for the seven time trialists was the side wind from the north. Only two of us had ridden the first CFCTT 15km time trial last week, and half of us improved. Celia McInnis had two excuses for doing so - First of all, the lovely hot-pink tape job on her badly bruised/battered left knee had greatly reduced the swelling, and secondly she had to get back to the finish line to help Jim before speedy Kory McDonald made up Celia's 5 minute head start! Note that six of the seven women had ridden at least one 10km CFCTT this year, and of those, four improved, and all of those significantly. The most improved, by a whopping 27.15% in terms of cube speed, was Kim Faulkner with a new personal best of 32:17, perhaps because she was worried about being late for a meeting. Hybrid cyclist Sally O'Brien (38:31), who turns 70 next year was the next most improved (15.63%) perhaps partially due to replacing her running shoes with some extra-wide cycling shoes which Celia McInnis lent her to accomodate her injured, bunioned feet. Also, Angela Beauchamp (28:05) upped her season best cube speed by 10.97% after adding some aero bars to her bike. She looked really aerodynamic on them. Last in this regard and fastest by a long shot was Kory McDonald (24:24) who posted a 7.56% improvement in her cube speed from her previous attempt at 10km. Finally, there was one new rider, Diane Andre (32:50), and she managed to ride almost 2.5 km faster than what she predicted. Good riding!
