Twenty women enjoyed this final CFCTT of the 2012 season - seven with improvements in their database best for 15km (Note that Heather Crysdales 90.93% improvement was a result of starting several minutes late in her only previous 15km TT - the one with the start line confusion on 2012-Jul-30 time trial) and eleven bettering their previous best database speed. This season 79 different women rode at lease one time trial. In all 2490km were ridden in 85:46:22 (29.030km/h) in the 215 CFCTT rides which were completed in 2012. Thirteen of the 79 women did at least 5 time trials, and here are the rankings in terms of the average of their best 5 average speeds. Veteran B rider Kathy Bradley was the fastest with the average of her best 5 average speeds being 36.706km/h. Veteran A rider Heather Tkalec, who met her goal of exceeding 35km/h tonight, was second with the average of her best 5 average speeds being 33.973km/h. Third place went to Veteran C rider Celia McInnis with the average of her best 5 average speeds being 33.500km/h. In terms of category rankings for these rankings, you may click here, and you may see masters gender handicaps based upon the VTTA standards for these women by clicking here. Assuming no equipment upgrades (since the top quality equipment can make a huge difference in speed!), one simple way of measuring the improvement (or not!) of each rider is to look at the average of the performance ratios relative to their previous season-series best cube speed as shown here. Heather Tkalec, the only rider to improve her speed every time measures 1.0795, just slightly ahead of our recumbent tricycle rider Thuy Do with 1.0781, who had two lapses in her overall improvement from about 20km/h to 26 km/h. Congratulations to both of them! As well, we can look at consistency first of all by looking at the standard deviations of the cube speeds which puts Kathy Bradley on top, or we can try to relate take the difficulty of the day into account by using the Event Factor to get this rankings. Kathy, who sometimes rides even faster when the wind is tough, also ranks first in terms of this measure of consistency. Way to go Kathy! Way to go All!
