The official results appeared on 2007-Oct-15 circa 09:00 - I have offered to provide same-day accurate service, and am looking forward to helping here next year... Though the temperature was even colder than it had been last week at Calabogie, with the sun out in full force, it felt far warmer. The general impressions today on this new course were that it was tough going out (west) into a slight breeze with the gradual, steady increase in elevation, and that there was more motor traffic than we'd like. On the other hand, it was fun coming home - downhill assisted by increasing winds. Twelve of eighteen people improved upon their 2007 best 40km TT, and thirteen of twenty equalled or bettered their previous database-best 40km. Some of those who didn't, had very good excuses. Ron Phillips abandoned with a broken spoke, and Kristin with an injury. Ian took to the ditch after an oncoming vehicle came too close while passing another. He then came across Les Humphrey at the side of the road, and stopped to see if he could lend assistance. One of Les's Alessandro tubulars ("a collector's item - handmade", he quipped!), which looked as if it had been in constant use since it's creation in the 1950's, had blown up. Not to fear, Les always carries what is needed to keep rolling, and considering what he's rolling, this is just as well! Meanwhile, Ellen, who finished a shift at 06:00 this morning was fatigued from a busy weekend of fire-fighting. Congratulations to Allen Cameron for his second sub-hour performance, Gary Romkey for doing the first sub-hour 40km for the Vet D's, and Erika Revesz for doing a database PB and improving upon the VCF 40km best.
