Several of the regulars are in Vermont this week, but nine of us made it out to Frank Kenny Road to race under quite good conditions. All were within 93% of their 2007-WTT-10.89km previous best cube-speed, and the fastest two, Ellen and Lindsay, improved. Ellen, last out, first back and most improved, was oh-so-close to meeting a 40km/h average speed - 3 seconds fewer (16:20) would have done it. Yet Ellen had good consolation with her weekend performance in Drummondville at the National Triathlon Championships, where she was first in her age group by a long shot, and 21st overall in the women's field of 80. Cadet rider Lindsay Anderson, who was second-last out, second back and second most improved tonight, experienced a surprising blow-up 20 meters from the end - her tire rather than her ability to exert! Celia, popping zinc and echinacea lozenges all day for a nasty cold, was pleased to pull up third, only a little worse for the wear. Finally, it was nice to have Klara, aged 10, out for the first time this year. She has upped her average speed in each of her WTT races so far. Note: There was a technical difficulty tonight - the elapsed times for at least one of Jane Hammingh and Barbara Wilson were wrong - The ordering was correct with Jane finishing before Barbara, but the elasped times were wrong with Jane's written as 3 seconds slower than Barbara's. Since the printer on our timer has not worked for weeks and since neither Jane nor Barb knows their correct time, we have no way of correcting these results. What has been done is to change the elapsed time for Jane from 37:42 to 37:32... Can we please get our watch fixed/replaced so that such errors can be caught and corrected?
