This site, now in its 27th season, is a labour of love and fun from one of Ottawa's most avid time trialists and number crunchers. It adheres to and is permitted by the laws of Canada, promotes the objectives of every bicycle club whose results are shown, and is donated free of charge by myself for your enjoyment and usage. If you would like results from series you ride in to be shown here, give me (celia.mcinnis@gmail.com) a shout!
NOTE that this site had to be quickly moved to a new server with a new version of Perl. Unfortunately the way of interacting with the web form has changed, so I'll have to do some reprogramming to get the buttons and search boxes working. Meanwhile the links work fine and you can always add query specifications into the URL! :-)

It was nice and warm this morning. Many reported that their return was much slower than their outward leg, but that may have just been fatigue resulting from the relentless side-winds rather than worsening conditions. This is the second year that the OBC has used this course for the 40km time trials, and this is the first time trial on this course this year. Fourteen of today's twenty-five finishers also rode this course last year, and four of those rode faster today. Bram Moerman was the most improved with a cube speed improvement of 14.02%. You may click here to see a graph of the four riders who rode faster today than they did in their attempt(s) at this course last year. It's also interesting to compare the riders best 15km and 40km performances on the OBC courses. Peter Schuck was the most consistent between his 40km and 15km results with a cube speed ratio of .9806! David Martin (.9753), Peter Henschel (.9584) and fastest man, Michael Nash (.9524) also all scored above 95%. Congratulations to Michael Nash for setting a course best with his 53:21, 27 seconds faster than the record which Ron Amos set last year. The fastest woman today, Ellen Pazdzior (1:04:57) went out fast enough to break the women's record of 1:04:29 set last year by Carol Deavy, but faded in the second half. Ellen currently holds the 2nd and 3rd fastest times on this course. The other noteworthy performance today was Derek Gee's Cadet Male 40km database record of 57:52. This is more than 6 minutes faster than the previous 40km record of 1:03:57 of Philippe Bergeron on 2007-Aug-12. This was done on the tougher Calabogie course, but Derek had already done the Calabogie course faster than this last year as a Minime.

These results were posted on the OBC site circa 12:00 on 2012-Jul-22 and are available here for your added pleasure and analysis.

(Lest complaints about me just lazily sucking in the results surface, I wish to make it perfectly clear that I would look after the data entry. Historically, for the decade starting in 1998 I had all of the WTT series up within a few hours of the event, and likewise for the OTT series from 1999-2002 and again in 2006. More recently, I have written web software which can run from the start/finish lines to register, seed, calculate rider times from elapsed times and database the results immediately. The OBC Board however, not only won't let me volunteer here, but strangely enough they actually expelled me from the OBC for donating this time trial web site to you !)
