Amputee rider Kim Fawcett has a few more challenges than most of us. She was disappointed to arrive tonight with the wrong prosthesis - a beautifully flowered general utility leg (which didn't clear her bicycle saddle and hence would fall off if she tried to time trial with it) rather than her cycling leg. Oh well, at least her bike and legs remained cleaner than those of the 21 women who entered tonight's time trial! The skies were very dark as we arrived to register and the rain began as the first rider left the start line. With substantial side winds from the south, only five women bettered their previous season-series bests and you can click here to see their progress in this series this year. Four of those along with a fifth whose only previous 15km finish was the 2012-Apr-06 Good Friday time trial actually improved upon their previous personal 15km database best - second placed Sharolyn Higgs (23:17 with a 1.0680 cube speed ratio), third placed Emily Flynn (23:27 with a small 1.0043 cube speed ratio), and seventh placed Stephanie Rees (24:26 with an even smaller 1.0041 cube speed ratio), along with eight placed Janice Campbell (25:51 with a huge 1.4988 ratio relative to her Good Friday result). Janice felt well enough to go for a run after finishing her race. The fastest rider of the night was Allysa Mellon who did 22:40 which is about 39.7km/h. All she needs is a nice night to beat her database personal best of 22:23 (approximately 40.2km/h). It was great to have a new female peewee rider out tonight - 12 year old Zoe Brown who did 28:14. This ranks her 11th in the all time female Peewee 15km results in my database, which is excellent considering the fact that she had never ridden a time trial longer than 6 or 7 kilometers previously. There's lots of potential there!

(Lest complaints about me just lazily sucking in the results surface, I wish to make it perfectly clear that I would look after the data entry. Historically, for the decade starting in 1998 I had all of the WTT series up within a few hours of the event, and likewise for the OTT series from 1999-2002 and again in 2006. More recently, I have written web software which can run from the start/finish lines to register, seed, calculate rider times from elapsed times and database the results immediately. The OBC Board however, not only won't let me volunteer here, but strangely enough they actually expelled me from the OBC for donating this time trial web site to you !)
